Rebirthing
“Rebirthing can lead to transpersonal experiences or to the awakening of the body. The term ‘transpersonal experience’ is described in holotropic therapy as the expansion of consciousness beyond the confines of the ego and the limits of time and space. Such experiences lead to the discovery of extraordinary new dimensions of the brain, a new vision of life, and greater personal wisdom.”MINETT, Gunnel.
Breathing well is good for the spirit,
Rebirthing is more than just a physical technique. The principles that underpin it are part of a journey of integration, study, and practice.
This therapeutic approach induces deep and heightened states of consciousness through a combination of several simple techniques: rapid, steady breathing to the point of hyperventilation, evocative music, and simple bodywork that promotes the release of bioenergetic, emotional, and nervous system blockages.
Sessions are usually conducted in groups, where participants work in pairs and take turns in the roles of “rebirthers”—who perform the breathing and rebirth work—and “facilitators”—who assist and are present to support their trance. The entire process is supervised by a fully trained facilitator with extensive personal experience and expertise in group facilitation, who will assist participants with any necessary interventions.
During a Rebirthing session, each participant undergoes a comprehensive therapy designed to recall the experience of birth and, through this process, heal the primary bond with the mother during the prenatal, perinatal, and postnatal stages.
Both in its practical and theoretical aspects, Rebirthing combines and integrates various elements of recent research in transpersonal psychology, as well as methods from Eastern and indigenous spiritual traditions. It is primarily characterized as a form of therapy that operates at a fundamental level of the body (the autonomic nervous system), where there is only sensation and the non-verbal.
It differs substantially from traditional forms of psychotherapy, psychoanalysis, and other schools of clinical psychology, whose primary focus is on verbal intervention.
In other words, this approach makes it possible to reach levels that other therapies (including speech therapy) cannot address.
During the Rebirthing experience, primal emotions, birth traumas, unconscious blocks, and self-limiting introjects are released. The birth process is reenacted, and in some cases, participants may recall this experience in detail.
This will put you in the ideal state to form a new resolution, the energy of which will permeate your nervous system, resulting in a greater capacity to embrace love (the Whole) and life (parents) with all its losses and realities.
In summary:
Rebirthing facilitates access to the deeper levels of consciousness within a safe and secure environment. The session, designed for couples, is based on circular breathing, and with the support of music that accompanies the inner experience, participants revisit the birth process.
